What is the Gala?
Last year RLS held it's first annual Gala and successfully raised $82,000! It was a night to remember. The Gala is a plated, sit down dinner with a verbal and silent auction. We also had a 50/50 drawing, raffles, and surprise gift bags for sale. It was a blast!!
Each year our theme will be "MOVIES". Last year was Casablanca and our M.C., Mr. Price, was dressed as a French Military Officer. Several other volunteers were dressed as Humphrey Bogart! Some of the ladies were dressed as Ingrid Bergman, and others just dressed Moroccan. Dressing the part is an option, but the attire is dressy casual. This year Mr. Price will be dressing as....Indiana Jones!! The 7th graders will offer babysitting at the school to raise money for their D.C. trip. The 8th graders will help by modeling the items, helping the auctioneer, and misc. jobsWe all know that attending a Christian school is not free. In order to help keep costs down; we, the parents, grandparents, guardians, etc, need to put forth extra effort.
In addition to basically keeping costs down, wouldn't it be nice to be able to add a second language to the curriculum? High school students are required to take a 2nd language and it's well known that younger children learn another language quicker and easier than older students. Other programs that could be considered may include but not be limited to: band, keeping our library up to date, field trips to the Arts, state of the art computer programs, teacher raises and bonuses, and scholarship support which are also important and have been a blessing to many families from Redeemer Lutheran.
We're so excited about our new gym; so many exciting ball games and practices, PE, and Youth events have been held and the outcomes have been great. The Christmas program was, as usual, beautiful. This year we got to experience the talents of the children all together. This is what your help has done so far. Now we have had the success with our big fund raiser, we see that we can add other programs, too!!
